Kansas Will Get Lift When Rush Returns ; Bzdelik Enjoying Rocky Mountain High.

KANSAS CITY - Brandon Rush won't be on the court when Kansas opens its season against Louisiana-Monroe on Nov. 9 at Allen Fieldhouse. Exactly how soon the junior swingman will take the floor and what kind of shape will he be in when he does remain two of the biggest questions in the Big 12 Conference heading into this season.

Game Notes

Brown delivers for Tigers For the viewers watching from their living rooms, Missouri safety Pig Brown introduced the Tigers' starters on defense during yesterday's ABC telecast. On the field, Brown introduced himself the day's busiest defensive performance. The senior co-captain made plays all over the field and finished with a game-high 14 tackles, including 41/2 behind the line of scrimmage. He was credited with two pass deflections - though probably had three or four more - and picked off ...

Behind the Scenes ; Museum of Art Gains New Curator, New Work

Sitting in her small, packed office in the basement of Pickard Hall, Mary Pixley, the new associate curator of European and American art at the Museum of Art and Archaeology, isn't letting a lack of windows obscure her vision. Arriving only last month, Pixley enjoyed a veni, vidi, vici moment when she recently helped secure a new piece of art for the museum. It's a significant acquisition with connections to both coasts, as well as black art history. And with luck, the terra- cotta bust of a ...

Out of the Shadows ; Augustin Gets His Turn to Lead the Texas Longhorns.

His was one of the most impressive freshman seasons in Big 12 Conference history, but hardly anybody was paying attention. He joined T.J. Missouri Is Blanked by 'Horns

In a street fight, you can either swing back or run away. The Missouri volleyball team didn't run, but it didn't have the muscle to fight back either. The Tigers were swept for the second consecutive match, this time by No. 6 Texas, 32-30, 30-17, 30-22. The Longhorns snapped a seven-game losing streak to MU at the Hearnes Center.

Fourth-Down Gambles Fail for Texas Tech ; Leach Eschews Field Goals When Drives Stall in Tigers' Territory.

Fourth down is a kicking down ... for most teams. For Texas Tech, fourth down is an option. Kicking a field goal is an option. So is punting. To the Red Raiders, taking another crack at the first down marker is an equally enticing option.

Miffed Parkview Loses On Pks, Leaves Town

No one was at their best during yesterday's boys soccer game at Rock Bridge Field. Not Rock Bridge. Not Parkview. Not the referees. After the second overtime ended with the score tied at 1, the Bruins edged Parkview 4-3 in penalty kicks. If a few calls hadn't gone Rock Bridge's way, the outcome could have been reversed.

William Woods University art students swept the awards in the recent 2007 One Read's "Express Yourself Art Show: Life is a Circus," taking first, second, third and two honorable mentions, William Woods officials said.
