Nba Roundup

- Mavericks 121, Warriors 99: In Dallas, Dirk Nowitzki claimed it was just another regular-season game. His playoff-like intensity against the Golden State Warriors told a different story. Nowitzki had 29 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three blocks to lead the Mavericks, who were bounced out of the first round of the NBA playoffs last season by the upstart Warriors, last night.

`Juno' Star Ellen Page Breaks Stereotypes in Anti-Heroine Role

No one really noticed Ellen Page as she dashed through the lobby of San Francisco's Ritz-Carlton hotel. Although Page is the star of "Juno," one of the season's most- buzzed-about indie films, the tiny 20-year-old actress is still mostly anonymous to the masses.

Mental Mistakes ; Trip Mu

The mental mistakes have not gone unnoticed by Missouri basketball Coach Mike Anderson. They were impossible to miss in Sunday's loss to Mississippi State in Starkville, Miss. Twice, with the Tigers trying to rally in the closing minutes, the Bulldogs hoisted 3-pointers headed off target, only to be bailed out by overeager defenders fouling them after the ball had left their hands.

Fan Affair

Big Head Todd and the Monsters is a lot tougher of a band name than any of the music the band itself produces. After hitting the Top 10 in the early '90s with snappy singles from its 1993 "Sweetly Single" record, the group became known for its easy, laidback rock 'n' roll sound. But with the band's latest release, "All the Love You Need," Todd Park Mohr - the big head - wanted to capture the emotional spirit of punk rock.

Hickman Stumbles Late Vs. Notre Dame de Sion

The Kewpies led 23-18 at halftime and built that into a 13-point lead in the third quarter, but Notre Dame de Sion stormed back to force overtime. In the extra period, the Kewpies (7-4) trailed throughout until 15 seconds remained, when Alexa Fox was fouled in the act of shooting. The foul sent Fox to the sideline and Nicole Schulz stepped off the bench and knocked down both ...

Modest Musicians Proud by Their Own Measure

False modesty runs rampant on the music scene, especially among musicians who bust their butts playing shows, recording albums, promoting themselves, forgoing the conventional life path in search of the Holy Grail that is fame, fortune and a break into the biz. But not The Goldbugs.

Game Over ; Gunther's, `Rock Band,' `Manhunt' Highlight '07

As 2008 begins, the rubble that was 2007 is only just starting to clear away, and the highs and lows are still vivid in gamers' minds. I thought I'd run down the top five things that I will remember most about the year that was 2007. 5. The omnipresence of the rhythm games. It all started when "Dance Dance Revolution" was imported to the States, but "Guitar Hero" made it explode with casual gamers. Now, "Guitar Hero" is going to become an annual franchise, and "Rock Band" is pumping out new d...
