Borduin Picks Hoyas ; Announcement Worth Wait for Bruin.

During a spectacular high school track career, Lauren Borduin has proven to be one of the best athletes to ever roam the halls of Rock Bridge. It appears she's also really good at keeping a secret.

Raymond Olson, 1928-2008

Raymond E. Olson, 80, of Columbia passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at his home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Memorial Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

State Wrestling Berths On Line

The Rock Bridge and Hickman wrestling teams will head to Jefferson City High School today for the Class 4 District 3 Tournament. Berths in next week's MSHSAA Wrestling Championships will be on the line during the two-day tournament that features 13 teams. The top four finishers in each weight class advance to state.

Doris Andrews 1927-2008

Doris Jean Hoard Andrews, 80, of Glasgow died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at Beverly Living Center. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at Carr-Yager Funeral Home in Fayette with visitation at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Log Chapel Cemetery.

William Lynn "Bill" Coleman, 87, of New Franklin passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at Markland-Yager Funeral home in New Franklin with visitation at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in New Franklin.

Missouri Likes Look of Deep Pitching Staff ; Compacted Schedule has Tigers Making Adjustments.

Missouri baseball Coach Tim Jamieson envisions having two pitching staffs. One group of pitchers would work exclusively on the weekends, especially during Big 12 play, and the other pitchers would throw the midweek games.

Marjorie Thomas, 1923-2008

Mrs. Marjorie L. Thomas, 84, of Hartsburg died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at Boone Hospital Center. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Hartsburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Snyder officiating. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Boone County. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Buescher Memorial Home and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Hartsburg Baptist Church.

Linda Williams, 1950-2008

Linda Gayle Williams, 57, of Centralia died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at her home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at Fenton Funeral Chapel in Centralia with the Rev. Greg Ogden of Pella, Iowa, officiating.

CMU's Karhoff 10th at Millrose Games Central Methodist's Geoff Karhoff placed 10th in the 1-mile race walk at the Millrose Games on Feb. 1 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Karhoff finished in 7 minutes, 30.48 seconds.

Rock Bridge Looks for New Soccer Coach

When the Rock Bridge boys soccer team hosted Hickman on Sept. 26, there was one glaring absence: Bruins Coach Kirby Keth. Keth could not be on the sideline at Rock Bridge Field for his team's 13th game because the players had accumulated a combination of 10 off-the-ball yellow cards and red cards through their first 12 games.

Victim has Friends in Columbia

Lee Elementary School is hosting a silent auction and film festival from 6 to 9 tonight at The Blue Note. The school fundraiser will feature live music and donated artwork from local artists that will be up for bid.

Police: Give Internal Reviews Time to Work

Rather than just getting a letter in the mail saying their complaint has been received, residents who file complaints with the Columbia Police Department will now get a personal contact from the investigating officer within seven days. It's one feature of the department's newly adopted process to improve how it responds to complaints and handles issues internally.
