Summary


I have been a potter a good part of my adult life. I started this activity in earnest after I studied with a Japanese master potter at the San Francisco Institute of Art when my husband was working toward his doctorate at Stanford. The first and last thing I learned was that one must find true balance by forcing and enticing the clay into the center of the wheel to throw a good pot. Balance is everything.

The same is true of life, I find. A friend sent me a very good article about physical balance, and I think you will be interested in what it has to say because falling down is one of our greatest enemies as we move into our later years. A broken hip, arm, wrist, knee, ankle or anything else can have dire consequences.
