Back before there were hundreds of cleaning products on the market, our ancestors used household items to clean and repair their things. I'm constantly amazed that baking soda, vinegar, salt and even mayonnaise are tried-and-true problem solvers.

What Is It?

This is another true "What is it?" item because I don't know what it is. Put on your thinking cap. It measures only 4 3/4 inches long, and the disc moves up and down on threads. The point is sharp but not needle-like. The handle is painted wood and has been gripped often. Do you recognize this tool? If you don't have your own collection of favorite books on your family bookshelf, now's the time to begin.
