It's no secret that the sub-genre of Latin jazz has a rich, rich history - especially when you zoom in on the post-World War II era. However, the musical culture goes back a great deal further. I'm sure there was lots of mingling going on decades earlier, say around the turn of the century - from 19th to 20th century, that is.
