ASHLAND -- The Hallsville girls basketball team looked comfortable last night playing against North Callaway's 3-2 zone defense. The Indians held the lead throughout most of the first half and consistently scored in the paint. But the Thunderbirds turned the tables in the second half and took advantage of easy baskets en route to a 60-40 victory in the first round of the Southern Boone Classic.

Hallsville (8-7) led by as many as six points in the second quarter, but North Callaway (12-4) went on a 7-0 run in the last 1:46 of the half to take a one-point lead into halftime. It never trailed again.
