JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Matt Blunt vetoed a controversial economic development bill today in a move that could trigger a special session of the General Assembly.

The bill was initially intended to expand a Quality Jobs Act program that provided incentives to companies offering good-paying jobs and health-care benefits to employees. But it became freighted with numerous provisions to assist cattle ranchers, movie producers and ticket scalpers.
