Senate Majority Leader Charlie Shields is a roadblock of reality on the campaign trail.

Case in point: One of the biggest fireworks blasts at the recent gubernatorial debate in Columbia was over campaign finances. Republican nominee Kenny Hulshof, a congressman from Columbia, and Democratic nominee Jay Nixon, the attorney general of Missouri, have said they support a campaign finance system with limits. Nixon accused Hulshof of being inconsistent, pointing to a previous statement where Hulshof said he preferred a system without limits to the recently discarded system with limits.
