Northern Boone County's economy took a blow yesterday when employees at the Diversified Plastics Corp. plant near Centralia were told they would be out of work next month.

The plant's closure is set for March 6 and will put 56 full-time employees out of work, plant manager Barry Stevens said. The closure also will affect five student laborers and three contract laborers.
