Summary


Editor, the Tribune: This answers the letter from the man in Ashland - whose name I will not mention as he did not really know what he was writing about - who complained that few countries help the United States during our disasters. Space does not permit me to list all the countries, dozens from every continent on Earth, that rushed to donate hundreds of tons of medical supplies, teams of doctors, emergency equipment you name it to us after Sept. 11, 2001, and Hurricane Katrina. Yes, even the countries hardest hit by the tsunami - Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka and India - all volunteered significant aid.

The problem was our bumbling administration's confusion and paralysis, which resulted in refusals to accept the aid and delays in granting permission for relief flights from all over the world. This resulted in numerous countries complaining that their relief supplies were going unused, waiting to be flown from their various airports around the world. Those administration bumblers still have not rebuilt New Orleans.
