Summer starts innocuously enough in late June, teasing us with hints of the 90s, but not enough to raise our ire. We're accustomed to the Fourth of July being a little toasty, and that is but a harbinger of things to come. Then the Show-Me Games arrive, and the beginning of a month of unbearable heat and humidity is upon us.

This year, the first day of the first weekend wasn't too bad, but Sunday responded with full fury. It doesn't help that we have been inundated with torrents of precipitation, interrupted by periods of high heat. You can tell it's going to be one of those days when you wake up and see nothing but condensation on the outside of your windows.
