On paper, the Missouri Baptist Spartans looked like a team capable of derailing the 11th-ranked Columbia College Cougars last night at the Southwell Complex.

Led by guard Alexis Rhoades, a 6-foot-1 matchup-nightmare, the Spartans rank second in the American Midwest Conference to the Cougars in scoring offense and eighth in the NAIA with a 38.3 3- point percentage. Defensively, Ashley Johnson averages nearly 10 rebounds per game for the Spartans, who had won three games in a row.
