Council Gives Ok to Youth Basketball

Summary


The Columbia City Council last night endorsed a local group's plan to build a $4 million multi-use facility on city-owned land next to the Activity & Recreation Center.

Under the plan, the Columbia Youth Basketball Association will work with a private firm to raise money to construct the 62,500- square-foot building to house eight basketball courts, meeting rooms and space for other sports such as volleyball. The group has two years to raise the money. The building subsequently would be turned over to the city.
