Summary


Nearly $50 million in Boone County and Columbia road projects is part of the local wish list for a share of the $825 billion economic stimulus plan that Congress could present to President Barack Obama by mid-February.

Boone County commissioners Skip Elkin and Karen Miller yesterday met with representatives of U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill's Columbia office to discuss "shovel-ready" projects that could get started rather quickly with an infusion of federal money. Cindy Hall, regional director of McCaskill's office, said job creation would be a primary consideration for acceptable projects.
