Editor, the Tribune: During my 32-year career in the practice of law, I have been in courthouses across the state of Missouri. I am often reminded of how fortunate we are in Boone County to have such a fine circuit clerk office. In my opinion, it is the best in this state. When court automation and other improvements in our state judicial system are developed, they often start in Boone County.

On Aug. 8, we have an excellent candidate to follow in the steps of Cheryl Whitmarsh and Maxine Owens. Through her past positions, including chief deputy clerk of the probate division, Beverly Steelman has the proven experience and skills to continue these traditions. I have worked with Beverly for years and always find her to be very knowledgeable, helpful and pleasant in rendering public service. When I enter her office, I quickly notice the organized appearance of public files in her possession. I have confidence that Beverly will serve the citizens of Boone County and the staff in her office with the respect and professionalism we have come to expect.
