Summary
Given the recent news cycle, either no one is going to be interested in downtown business news, or everyone is looking for a story to distract from what have been very unhappy events. For those in the second camp, the distraction: Downtown Columbia has just completed a three-year project with last week's passage of the Downtown Community Improvement District sales tax.
In my last column, I explained that our Special Business District was being phased out in favor of the CID. This project began in spring 2008, when the SBD board hired consultants to assess the dynamics of downtown and determine how best to plan for a stronger and more successful urban district.See the full content of this document
