Duplex Devoted to Pot Setup ; Unoccupied Unit Held 228 Plants.

Summary

A large marijuana-growing operation filling a duplex unit was discovered yesterday south of Columbia, but no arrests had been made this morning.

Deputies searched one side of the duplex at 1928 Old Plank Village Drive after receiving complaints from residents, according to a news release from the Boone County Sheriff's Department. A search warrant was ordered for the residence, where deputies found no one living in the 1,200-square-foot unit, which had been completely modified to grow marijuana. The modifications included extensive electrical rewiring and the installation of grow lamps, timers and water systems. Also, holes were cut in walls, insulation was added, doors were built and the windows were covered.
