Columbia's annual Roots 'N Blues 'N BBQ Festival doesn't start until Friday, but some youngsters at West Boulevard Elementary got a head start this week as musician T.J. Wheeler taught them about blues music and its history.
This year marks Wheeler's second appearance at West Boulevard Elementary and the fifth year of the Blues in the Schools program, which started at Grant Elementary. During his weeklong residency at West Boulevard, Wheeler met with all students and worked on music reflecting the school's theme of unity, which Principal Susan Emory said was a great fit for the program at the beginning of the school year.See the full content of this document
