Summary


Editor, the Tribune: I consider myself a proud American. I served our country in the Army and then the National Guard. This is the best country in the world, and I feel lucky to be a part of it. However, when I read the front-page article on Monday, I was ashamed.

I had the fortune of living next door to Shakir Hamoodi and his family for a number of years. Shakir is one of the nicest people I know. He is a kind, generous, peaceful man whom I feel lucky to call my friend. I can only imagine the other people in town who have met Shakir and were outraged at what our government is putting Shakir's family through. I can only hope that when Shakir's name is cleared, the Tribune will run an article on the front page of equal scale.
