Federal environmental regulators are telling the state that six more Boone County streams need to be protected for swimming or boating.

Earlier this year, the state had deduced that about 4 percent of all bodies of water in Missouri, including seven in Boone County, were not swimmable - which generally means the water is too shallow to swim or wade.
