I am fortunate to have a very large pantry, but that means it often has foods hiding toward the back that I cannot find, so I always do inventory at the beginning of the year.

These weeks in January, I have made an effort to use foods that have been stored for several months. I always keep certain items stocked so that I can prepare a meal at the last minute. Canned goods will keep for many months on the shelf. Dry pastas, rice and beans also have a long shelf life as well as cereals.
