Jefferson Junior High School's media center this week has been converted into a miniature Ellis Island, where eighth-grade students are getting a firsthand glimpse at what immigrants went through when they came to America in 1900.
The sixth annual Ellis Island Traveling Exhibit requires students to assume foreign identities, then play those characters as they wait in long lines, go through grueling and repetitive interviews and complete the paperwork necessary to become U.S. citizens.See the full content of this document
