Officials Say Holiday Traffic Measures Were Successful

Steps taken to improve traffic flow around Stadium Boulevard and Interstate 70 during the holiday season were successful, officials said.

Yellow traffic barriers were placed on Stadium and the I-70 south outer roadway to control traffic near the Columbia Mall. Sgt. Curtis Perkins, of the Columbia Police Department's Traffic Unit, said the barriers helped keep traffic on Stadium from backing up as in years past, and that meant the department didn't need to assign officers to the area to direct traffic.
