Homemade Crackers Help Make Home Preservative-Free

Summary

I rarely use processed foods. I hate looking at a label and seeing a long list of unfamiliar ingredients. I look for only pure foods when I can. A pasta label should show only the type of flour and water unless it has vegetable powder included for color and flavor.

Even cracker labels can list many ingredients, and often these are just fillers with little food value. Yet, crackers are very easy to make. You can make them yourself using the ingredients you want your family to eat -- particularly if food allergies are a concern. I make crackers in small recipes, so no preservatives are necessary. The low moisture content means this food stays fresh for days when kept in an airtight container.
