Columbia police are investigating three separate robberies that happened in the early morning hours yesterday.
At 2 a.m. yesterday, officers were dispatched to a report of a strong-arm robbery in the area of Anthony and William streets, Officer Latisha Stroer of the Columbia Police Department said in a news release. A woman said she was walking alone and talking on her phone when she was approached from behind. She said a man hit her in the shoulder and pulled at her purse. The woman said the man then knocked her to the ground and took off with her purse. She said the man ran westbound on Anthony. The victim was not injured. The suspect was described as a black male, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall with short black hair and a chunky build.
