Summary


Iran today is in the throes of an intense debate over government efforts to control what information is available to its citizens on the Internet.

With traditional media, such as print and broadcast, under heavy state control, a sizable online community has grown up in Iran. Many of those with access to the Internet have come to feel that government attempts to limit their access to Web sites and blogs are inconsistent with the right of freedom of information.
