Back on Broadway, next door to A.F. Neate's Dry Goods store, was the F.W. Woolworth Five and Dime.
Things were tough in the Depression, and five-and-dime stores flourished. Next to Woolworth's was Peck Drug Store, owned by Gene Heidman, a wonderful businessman whose daughter, Betty Douglas, is still living. I remember it having a wonderful soda fountain.See the full content of this document
