Job Point Earns $1.5 Million Grant

Summary


A $1.5 million federal grant awarded yesterday to Job Point will assist former prison inmates in reconnecting with the community through service and education.

The grant to implement a Civic Justice Corps in Boone County is one of 15 awarded nationwide by the U.S. Department of Labor. The program will address the needs of offenders ages 18 to 24 through volunteer work and academics, according to a Job Point news release. Community service projects will be planned around participants' vocational goals. Those vocations can include green initiatives, allied health fields, skilled trades, customer service and management.
