In addition to his lifetime achievements as business owner, billionaire and author, James Stowers Jr. joined the ranks of Harry Truman, Samuel Clemens and J.C. Penney last night as Chancellor Brady Deaton conferred upon him an honorary degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

"This is a great honor, this award, and I want to thank you," Stowers, an MU medical school alumnus, told the assembly for the Graduate School fall commencement at the Hearnes Center.
