Summary


Creativity and compassion drive Diane Huneke, both in her work and in her life. She has served on arts panels and commissions, run the Missouri Food Bank, organized group events against domestic violence, worked on civil rights issues, run a nursery and created gardens. Perhaps the most constant threads running through this patchwork of vocations have been her art and an inveterate artistic sense.

Last weekend, she was knee- deep in weeds and overgrown gardens on her 12-acre farm in Boonville. Huneke, who shares a house in Columbia with her good friend Alyce Turner, has been slowly naturalizing areas at the former nursery, which she hopes will someday be her refuge, a place to relax and to paint.
