Stimulus Funding to Help Identify Gaps in City's Energy Supply

Summary


Columbia has received federal stimulus money to help develop a plan to better deal with energy emergencies and disruptions.

The $200,000 grant, part of the Department of Energy's Local Energy Assurance Planning program, will be used to identify gaps in energy supply systems and come up with ways to alleviate disruptions caused by energy outages. The energy agency said the funds will help train staff to respond to emergencies such as blackouts, floods, ice storms or other disasters.
