Summary


For whatever reason, the holiday season brought a string of Nazi- themed dramas to the screen, the best of which is arguably "Defiance" from writer/director Edward Zwick. It's a story about facing aggression and the ultimate act of revenge: survival.

Based on a true story, the movie is set in 1942 Nazi-occupied Navahrudak, Belarus, where four brothers in the Bielski family, spurred by their parents' murder at the hands of German occupation forces, organizes a small group of Jewish partisans. On the wind there's talk of genocide, and rather than be led like lambs to slaughter, these brave few would rather die fighting for their freedom.
