"In regard to the 2008 Missouri mandate for 10 percent ethanol in all fuels, it's a wonderful thing our state is trying to do whatever it can to help conserve gas, and this is also helpful to the farmers planting the corn. But something they seem to have forgotten is it takes gas to plow the fields, it takes gas to go buy the seeds, it takes gas to plant the seeds and it takes gas for the sprayer truck to come in and spray the field. Then it takes gas to harvest the corn and gas to run the trucks for the combines to dump the corn in, and then gas to run the corn to the plants. So are we really saving any money? It sounds to me like we're using a heck of a lot more than what we're getting back. It kind of makes you wonder, doesn't it?
