Cracks in the floor of the emergency room at Columbia Regional Hospital this weekend prompted officials to reroute ambulances, move furniture and relocate computer equipment.

At 6 a.m. Saturday, hospital staff began noticing shifting and cracks in the concrete floor around the nurse's station on the first floor of the hospital emergency room. Officials called the house manager, who recommended moving computer equipment and furniture to the obstetrics/triage area, less than 100 feet away in a contiguous building.
