Summary
It's almost spring and time to reverse the coverlet. If we were living in Colonial times, we would have reversed our wool and linen coverlet twice a year: spring and fall. There was a dark "winter side" and a lighter-colored "summer side."
This beautiful overshot coverlet shows how the weaving of wool and linen yarns created a lighter "summer" side and a darker "winter" side. This one was made in the early 1800s. The wool was spun on the spinning wheel that I own and use for spinning.See the full content of this document
