The Missouri wrestling team stood in 16th place after the first day of the NCAA Championships in Philadelphia. MU's Todd Schavrien and Dom Bradley went 2-0 and advanced to the quarterfinals at 141 pounds and heavyweight, respectively.
The 10th-seeded Schavrien beat Rutgers' Trevor Melde 7-3 and Pittsburgh's seventh-seeded Tyler Nauman 3-1. The fifth-seeded Bradley had a pair of 3-2 decisions over Boise State's J.T. Felix and Wisconsin's 12th-seeded Eric Bugenhagen. The latter victory came in a tiebreaker after a scoreless sudden-victory overtime period. Tenth-seeded freshman Alan Waters was upset by Pitt's Anthony Zanetta 7-2 in the first round but stayed alive with a 5-4 win over Navy's Aaron Kalil at 125. At 133, Nathan McCormick lost his opener before beating Liberty's Thomas Mitchell 6-2 to stay alive.See the full content of this document
